According to the company, the halt of what is also called extra value payments takes effect from today Thursday, September 13 and will be in place for six days, “by which time we believe all pending issues related to the Gold Vault Market Product would have been ironed out.”
GhanaNewsPage.Com on Wednesday broke the news that the Securities and Exchanges Commission has asked Mezgold to seize operations.
Several people particularly celebrities which benefited from the activities of MenzGold have taken to social media to lambast the state institution for taking that course of action.
Commenting on this on Accra-based Peace FM’s Kokrokoo on Friday as monitored by GhanaNewsPage.Com, Kwesi Pratt challenged the management of MenzGold to drag the SEC to court if they disagree.
“If MenzGold thinks what they (SEC) is doing is not right, what is the right thing to do, they should drag them to court and challenge their action…,” he said.
Kwesi Pratt said he could not fathom why some people are blaming the government for the activities of MenzGold when they clearly did not ask government before investing with the firm.
To him, this attitude should not be condoned at all.
