Popular Ghanaian singer and entrepreneur Mzbel has reportedly lost a huge sum of money after falling victim to a large-scale scam allegedly masterminded by a UK-based woman.
According to emerging details, Mzbel, along with 37 other individuals, lost a combined total of more than GH¢1.4 million in what appeared to be a fraudulent business investment scheme.
Reports suggest that the alleged fraudster convinced the victims to invest with promises of high returns. The amounts invested varied, with some individuals losing between GH¢20,000 and GH¢50,000, while others, including celebrity figures like Mzbel and beauty expert Minalyntouch, allegedly lost as much as GH¢200,000 each. Together, these losses add up to the staggering figure of GH¢1,426,700.
Mzbel, who has built a reputation as one of Ghana’s most resilient entertainers, is said to have been particularly disappointed by the incident. Fans have expressed shock, pointing out that celebrities are usually expected to be more cautious when dealing with financial commitments of such magnitude.
The UK-based woman allegedly used her influence, business proposals, and personal connections to convince victims that their investments were safe. However, after receiving the funds, she reportedly cut communication and disappeared, leaving the victims stranded with no clear path to recovery.

Other victims, apart from Mzbel and Minalyntouch, include small business owners, fashion entrepreneurs, and working professionals, many of whom committed their savings in hopes of multiplying their earnings. The case has now drawn attention from both the entertainment and business communities, who are calling for authorities to intervene swiftly.
Industry experts have cautioned the public against quick-return investment schemes, stressing that the promise of guaranteed profits is often a red flag. They further urged high-profile personalities like Mzbel to lead by example in educating the public about financial vigilance.
As investigations are expected to begin, Ghanaians are closely monitoring the situation to see whether Mzbel and the 37 other victims will recover their funds. For now, the incident serves as a painful but important reminder that fraudsters often prey on trust and credibility, even among celebrities.
