One of the key members of the team seeking to get General Mosquito to partner John Mahama, Ahmed Ibrahim, who is also the Banda MP surprised members of the Bono Regional Executives of the party when he turned a meeting that was meant to discuss the smooth running of the party’s Parliamentary primaries in the region into a campaign platform for General Secretary.

The Banda MP, who was the chairman of the meeting, instead of telling the gathering the purpose of the meeting rather offered to tell them why they ought to support Asiedu Nketia’s bid to be the running mate of John Mahama.

Hon Ahmed Ibrahim told the gathering that Asiedu Nketia ought to be supported to be Running Mate of the NDC for the 2020 elections because several big wigs of the party, including senior and respected members, have thrown their support behind him.

“Asiedu Nketia is right choice for the running mate slot because all the national and party big wigs such as Jerry John Rawlings, Totobi Kwakye, Ato Ahwoi, Hon Doe Adjaho, Hon Alban Bagbin, Hon Nyamekye Marfo and a host of others support the bid of the General Secretary to be appointed as John Mahama’s running mate…,” he reportedly told the Bone Region Executives of the party.

GhanaNewsPage.Com gathered further that the Banda MP added that Doe Adjaho, a former Speaker of Parliament has managed to convince the Volta Caucus of the party to support Asiedu Nketia’s bid.

He further claimed that Mr Totobi Kwakye and the Ahwoi brothers, who are known to be very influential in the NDC are the lobbyists for Asiedu Nketia.

The speech of the Banda MP who is also the Minority Chief Whip, GhanaNewsPage.Com gathered infuriated the NDC executives at the said meeting.

Some participants, GhanaNewsPage.Com was told fumed with anger accusing Hon Ahmed Ibrahim of not being concerned with how the party will smoothly conduct its Parliamentary primaries.

To the participants, that speech of the Banda was unnecessary as the party was concentrating on Parliamentary primaries and not on choosing a running mate for John Mahama.

“We now understand why our mobile phones were seized prior to the commencement of the meeting…,” an angry participant confided in this website.

The NDC executives therefore called on the party’s flagbearer for the 2020 elections, John Mahama, to ‘hurry up and appoint a running mate’ since the lobbying for the post is increasingly dividing the party.
