The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has exposed Accra-based Joy Fm, a subsidiary of the Multimedia Group over a publication that the authority made some cash donation to the Director General of the Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah (Mrs) during her birthday recently.
A statement issued by the Public Affairs Directorate of the NLA urged the public to disregard the false claim made on Joy Fm’s Super Morning Show on Wednesday September 11, 2019.
The statement reads “NLA wishes to categorically denounce a mischievous news item circulating on Social media and the mainstream media by Joyfm, about a purported birthday donation from NLA to the Director-General of the CID. We wish to place on record that no such donation was ever made to the CID Boss as part of her birthday celebrations.
The Director-General of NLA has NEVER Authorized any Memo from Ag. General Manager in charge of Security and Special Projects as birthday donation to the CID Boss.
Furthermore, we state for the avoidance of any doubts that, the National Lottery Authority was officially represented at an Elevator unveiling ceremony at the CID Headquarters which was sponsored by NLA.
The NLA as a public institution cannot under any stretch of imagination apply public funds for a private cause.
We urge all to disregard any such publications aimed at maligning the good image of NLA”
Meanwhile, a source close to the CID Boss has revealed to MyNewsGh.com no a request verbally or written was extended to anyone to contribute in kind or cash towards the birthday of COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah (Mrs).
“I think this is a deliberate attempt by some faceless individuals to create disaffection for the CID Boss. She has not made any request or directed anyone to do same and therefore claims such a request was made comes as a surprise”, our source revealed.
