Chief Medical Officer of Ashantigold, Dr. George Chidi has debunked reports that four of Ashantigold players have tested positive for COVID-19.
On Wednesday, reports went rife that four players from the Miners have tested positive of coronavirus following plans to begin preparations ahead of next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
But Dr. Chidi has rubbished such claims, insisting the team is yet to undergo the COVID-19 test.
“That’s not true, because we have not yet started the Covid-19 test among players, we are yet to start the covid test, all things being equal on Friday we should start,” he told Oyerepa FM.
“It’s no big deal anyone testing positive but we are yet to do the Covid-19 test, KCCR is ready to come pick the samples but we are trying to put our logistics together. We need to put in place the protocols.”
Ashantigold will represent Ghana in next season CAF Confederation Cup following the cancellation of the 2019/20 season.
The Miners are rolling out plans to begin preparation, but players will have to undergo the COVID-19 test before training starts.
