The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has accused some individuals in the party of taken money from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) just to attack him.
These people, the NDC scribe said are in bed with the NPP with the view to getting him to lose his position because the NPP sees him as a threat and “a nuisance”.
“They [NPP] are making much noise. Also, some of the NDC people have taken money from the NPP to talk against me,” he claimed in an interview with TV3.
Former Central Regional Chairman of the party, Bernard Allotey Jacobs has been at the forefront of attacks on the General Mosquito as Asiedu Nketia is called in political circles.
He has claimed among other things that a vote for Asiedu Nketia will amount to the defeat of the party in the 2020 elections.
“The NPP has interest in our party as well as our congress because they see me to be a nuisance to them; the NPP wish me out from my party, then they will have no problem with the NDC,” Mr. Asiedu Nketia alleged.
About 9,000 delegates are expected to take part in the congress at which national executives will be elected to clear the way for the selection of a flag-bearer in December.
A final national executive committee meeting of the party was held Tuesday for the various committees within the party to present their reports ahead of the congress.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia assured party members and supporters of a peaceful and successful congress.
