A 33-year-old man is on the run after allegedly killing his wife and locking up her body in a room for four days in Olebu in the Ga North District of the Greater Accra Region.
The man identified only as Aboagye, residents say was seen in the area this week but told could not be seen by mid-week.
Mother of the deceased identified as Margarette told GhanaNewsPage.Com in an interview that her now at large son-in-law came to her house and left their kids in her care with the excuse that the wife had gone to town.
“Not knowing he had already killed my daughter and was looking for a way to run away…,” she cried.
Her suspicion, she said, heightened when after two days, she did not see Margarette not Aboagye in the neighbourhood. She began a fruitless search for the now deceased Margarette.
Four days after the heinous crime had been committed, the mother reported the case to the Police when they noticed a foul smell emerging from the room the couple occupied.
“When the Police arrived and forced the door opened, we noticed that he had butchered the wife and packed the mutilated body into a sack and covered it with a mattress…,” Accra Boy, a neighbour told GhanaNewsPage.Com.
It is not immediately known what caused Aboagye to kill the wife in cold blood and abscond afterwards.
Meanwhile, personnel of the Ghana Ambulance service has been to the scene and conveyed the decomposing body of Margarette to the hospital for preservation.
