The date for submission of logo and mascot for the 2023 African Games has been extended.

The Youth and Sports Ministry in collaboration with the 2023 African Games Project Team have begun the search for a logo and mascot for the competition.

The Sports Ministry and the African Games Project Team earlier launched a logo and mascot contest, setting Wednesday, July 29, 2020 as the deadline date for submission of works.

But the deadline date for submission has been extended to Wednesday, August 26, 2020.

According to the Youth and Sports Ministry, the logo and the mascot must use “parts of our heritage, our traditional/cultural symbols and flora, as well as fauna to epitomise our collective dreams and aspirations as a people, first as Ghanaians (HOST NATION) and then as Africans.”

“The Logo and Mascot should also represent the African Union (AU) and the African Union Commission (AUC) Images. They should both be easily recognisable and colourful as entries will be judged for the style, creativity and impact, easily usable for all promotions and advertising”.

Interested participants for the contest must be a Ghanaian and will have to provide their full name, proof of identity such as national ID (Ghana Card) or passport, and email addresses, as well as phone numbers.

Also, entries must be attached with a short description of not more than 300 words of designer’s own interpretation of either logo and/or mascot.

All entries must be submitted in both electronic formats, as well as hard copies at Corporate Box 4, Accra Sports Stadium.

Winner for either logo or mascot submission will take home GH₵5,000.00 cash and plaque each whilst the first runner-up and second runner-up will go home with GH₵3,000 and GH₵2,000 each.
