A pregnant woman in her mid-30s and her 62-year-old mother met their untimely death this morning when a speeding trotro vehicle AS 2886-17 knocked and killed them on the spot, MyNewsGh.com has confirmed.
The pregnant women only identified as Adwoa and her 62-year-old mother Abena Antwiwaa were killed at Abrepo Kesse close to Bantam, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
The unfortunate incident which occurred on Thursday dawn has thrown the residents of the area into a state of mourning and shock with attempts by some youth to lynch the driver and his mate but for the timely intervention of security men.
The area has recorded the highest number of accidents and knock downs since last year and this year as well according to the residents.
The death of the two has sparked anger among the residents and authorities in the area.
According to the residents who spoke to Mynewsgh.com, the pregnant woman and her mother were going to the hospital when they were knocked down by the speeding trotro vehicle when the two were crossing the main road.
It is gathered that the speeding trotro vehicle lost control and hit the 62-year-old mother and her pregnant daughter.
The assembly man for Abrepo Mpatasie electoral area Ian Ohemeng Moore disclosed the driver and the mate of the vehicle have been arrested by the police.
Meanwhile the bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue pending autopsy while police indicate to MyNewsGh.com that investigations have commenced into the incident.
