Hundreds of residents and road users mostly from the Afadzato and South Dayi District in the Volta region have embarked on a massive demonstration in Kpeve, the district capital of South Dayi in the region.
The youth clad in red shirts, holding placards with inscriptions such as “Drivers are suffering” “Nana Addo, bring the contractors to site” “The abandoned roads are killing us” among others, this is to register their grievances over the state of deplorable and abandoned roads in the Volta region.
The agitated youth mostly made of Okada riders, drivers, and market women have burnt lorry tires at several points on the Kpeve stretch of the eastern corridor road, resulting to heavy vehicular traffic in the town.
They called on the government to pay contractors to resume work on these bad roads and also to improve on other developmental infrastructures. Class fm understands that, similar demonstration will be held in Sogakope in the coming days, to register their displeasure over the collapsing bridge.
