The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensah is currently briefly the august house on the new Constitutional Instrument (CI) which has been laid before Parliament.
The new C.I which will offer guidelines on the continuous registration of new voters for the 2024 general elections.
Deliberations on the new C.I was suspended after the EC Chair failed to appear before a committee of the whole of Parliament to defend it because she had travelled to observe elections in Nigeria.
Some MPs had protested that they would not want to open discussions on the new C.I. if she fails to appear in person and this caused the Speaker of the House to suspend discussions and demand her presence.
On Tuesday, Mrs Jean Mensah appeared before the House with some staff of the Commission and is currently addressing the House.
