A mobile money vendor, Abubakar Yussif has been shot at Vitten, a suburb of the Tamale metropolis by unknown gunmen.

The gunmen took away about Ghc2,000 and an unspecified quantity of scratch cards from the helpless vendor.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mohammed Yussif Tanko confirmed that,“Yesterday, 18/09/19 at about 7:21 p.m. information was received to the effect that a mobile money vendor in Tamale had been robbed at Vitten around African Touch and victim taken to TTH.”

According to him, the Police proceeded to TTH where the victim, Abukari Yissif, 31 years was met with a gunshot wound on the right arm.

“He told police he was attacked by two armed men who arrived at his work place on a motorbike and robbed him of cash about. Ghc 2000 and quantity of scratch cards,” DSP Tanko said.

He made it known that the police has since visited the accident scene where five spent shells fired from an AK 47 rifle were retrieved.

He said investigations were ongoing, urging the public to come forth with relevant information to aid the arrest of the suspects.

DSP Ussif Tanko further advised persons who handle money at their work places to be wary of the dangers posed by criminals and be on the lookout for same.

He reminded the vendors to be security conscious and not act in a manner that is likely to make them fall easy prey for criminals; adding that suspicious characters should be reported to police for necessary action.
