Communications Director of AshantiGold Eric karikari has disclosed that the current owners of the club are planning to restructure their academy.
The Obuasi based club had one of the best football academies in Africa that provided exceptional talents that rose to become national team players for Ghana.
“We at AshantiGold is looking forward to reigniting the academy department of our club,” Karikari told OTEC FM.
“Our new project and direction is to build a formidable squad by blending experienced players with the youth players that will graduate from the academy” He added.
“We have tasked our technical team to monitor and scout players from all levels of the inter-schools football competitions in and around the Obuasi municipality” He concluded.
The AshantiGold academy produced the likes of Kofi Amoako, Nana Arhin Dua, Opoku Agyemang, etc.
The four-time Ghanaian champions are gradually losing their trademark of nurturing talents from their academy.
