The President, Nana Akufo-Addo intends to appoint former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyapong to help with the management of his ministers, GhanaNewsPage.Com has gathered.
The one-time flagbearer contestant of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) was sidelined in the first government of the President because of roles he played that the party deemed to have not helped the cause of the then flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo.
He and former Chairman of the NPP, Paul Afoko were subsequently suspended by the NPP.
However, Kwabena Agyapong played significant part of the party’s 2020 campaign and has thus been penciled down for a position in the yet-to-be formed Akufo-Addo administration.
Sources within the government tell GhanaNewsPage.Com that he will be appointed to the position of Deputy Chief of Staff following the exits of John Jinapor and Asenso Boakye who are now Parliamentarians.
He will deputy Frema Osei-Opare who has been highly praised for been effective during the first term.
With Kwabena Agyapong in that position, it is believed that he will help the grassroot of the party since he is a ‘party man’.
