Apple Music has released its 2018 end-of-year list of the most streamed artistes, songs, playlists and of course, albums.
This year, Drake was named the “Artiste of the Year”, Kacey Musgraves’ “Golden Hour” album was named “Album of the Year”, Cardi B’s “I Like It” featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin was named “Song of the Year” and Juice WRLD was named “Breakthrough Artiste of the Year”.
In its “Top 100 Albums of 2018”, only two Ghanaian artistes were listed – and that is rapper Sarkodie and gospel star Joe Mettle.
Sarkodie’s 2017-released album “Highest” made it onto the end-of-year list. The 19-track album which features top artistes including Runtown, Korede Bello, Victoria Kimani, Joey B and Big Narstie proved its worth this year on Apple Music.
Joe Mettle’s 2017-released “God of Miracles” album was among the most streamed albums worldwide in 2018. The 13-track album which features Ohemaa Mercy, Nathaniel Bassey and other top artistes earned a place on this year’s top album’s list.
Nigerian artiste Burna Boy topped the list with his “Outside” album, followed by Travis Scott with his “AFROWORLD” album.
Meanwhile, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, who made strides this year with their albums, failed to enter the list.
