Sekyere Beposo-based Asekem FC qualifies for Division 1

    Sekyere Beposo-based Asekem FC emerged as the winners of the Ashanti Regional Division Two Middle League held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

    Beposo Warriors, as they are known and called headed to the second tier of Ghana’s football league after overcoming Pro Players Academy 5-4 in a penalty shoot out. This was after a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes.

    A winning kick from a Pro Player FC threw the beautiful Beposo town in the Sekyere Central District into spontaneous jubilation.

    The cagy encounter thus became the talk of town because of how the two teams performed at the Group stages.

    Asekem FC which has been a torn in the flesh of Division 2 teams in the Ashanti Region qualified for the Play Off after topping Group A of the Middle League with 7 points while Pro Players from Atwima Koforidua emerged winners of Group A with 9 points.

    The results mean that the team owned by Dr Kofi Kodua Sarpong will in 2022/2023 football season play the Division 1 league.

    The players were presented with a trophy and medals for emerging tops.
