Former Asante Kotoko board member Bernard Ziel has taken a swipe at the personality of incoming Chief Executive Officer Nana Yaw Amponsah questioning the board on why they are hastily appointing the Phar Rangers financier.
The 2019 GFA presidential aspirant is set to be named as the new Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko on Friday.
Despite his popularity in the media and some section of the Kotoko faithfuls not all and sundry have greeted the news of the soon-to-be CEO with joy.
Bernard Ziel, a former board member of Asante Kotoko, is not enthused about the decision of the twelve-member board of directors to name Nana Yaw Amponsah as CEO.
“I will be very astonished if the board of directors decide to appoint a CEO for now, they must exercise patience in executing their duties. I do not know the reason for the rush. They must also consult a lot,” he fumed on Kumasi FM.
He explained: “There are a lot of things at Asante Kotoko that needs urgent attention that is the secretariat and Adako Jachie”.
Mr. Ziel questioned the credentials of Nana Yaw Amponsah calling him a braggart.
“What are the achievements of Nana Yaw Amponsah to be given a huge job as the Asante Kotoko CEO? No one has been able to enumerate his achievements”.
“It is only a media hype, he has done nothing distinctively to deserve the CEO position of Kotoko”.
“What has such a braggart like Nana Yaw Amponsah done, has he built a stadium or purchase an aeroplane for a club?,” He asked.
“The board should have advertise the position or seek advice from a consortium, that could have brought varied people on board,” he suggested.
The Executive Board of Asante Kotoko is set to unveil Nana Yaw Amponsah as its new Chief Executive Officer after the club settled on him on Tuesday.
The defeated GFA Presidential candidate will take over from the interim management led by Board member Joseph Yaw Adu.
