The Black Stars midfielder was adjudged the Sports Man of the year at the annual award ceremony held in Accra on Saturday evening.
Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Teye Partey has been named Sports Man of the year at 2020 EMY Africa Awards.
The 27-year-old beat off competition from his teammate Jordan Ayew, C.K Akonnor and Wasiru Mohammed to clinch the prestigious accolade at the 5th edition of the EMY Awards.
His spokesperson, Samuel Zigah who received the award on behalf of the Black Stars midfielder expressed his gratitude to the organizers for the recognition.
Partey was voted the EMY Africa Sports Man of the year following his outstanding performance for the Black Stars of Ghana and Atletico Madrid in the Spanish La Liga.
His sterling output has attracted him interest from several clubs in Europe which Arsenal has been tipped to be Partey’s next destination.
He has spent most of his career with Atlético Madrid, making over 150 competitive appearances.
Partey has scored ten goals in his 27 game outings for the senior national team of Ghana.
