The founder and leader of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Rev Christian Kwabena Andrews, also known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom has promised to prosecute the sitting President, Nana Akufo-Addo when he becomes President.
Kyiri Abosom said during an interview on Election Zone on KNM TV and GhanaNewsPage.Com that the President has failed to combat illegal mining, popularly known as Galamsey and must be held accountable.
According to him, the President after launching popular #StopGalamseyNow campaign allocated an amount of money to fight galamsey which they had argued was destroying the country’s waters.
“When Akufo-Addo came to power, he allocated an amount of money for fighting galamsey and ensuring that all our water bodies are restored…I will sue him when I come to power to account for how well they used the money…,” he said.
According to him, President Akufo-Addo ought to have done better with the fight insisting that there is no way he would discourage the youth from engaging in galamsey when he becomes President.
“I will free all the youth who were imprisoned because they were engaging in galamsey…they don’t deserve to be in prison…,” he added.
