For 23-year-old Nana Kwame, rolling a carpet on the road for the convoy of Dr Mahamudu Bawmia came as an involuntary action as according to him, he has always loved the Vice President.
He never expected to be rewarded for showing what he called ‘genuine admiration’ for the man whose government has constructed an astro turf and asphalted his hometown roads.
The former student of the Ghana Muslim Mission SHS in Beposo in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region told GhanaNewsPage.Com and KNM TV on YouTube in an exclusive interview said he is ‘very passionate and have very genuine love for the Vice President hence the decision to roll the carpets for his convoy’.
“He is a leader and that is how all leaders must be treated, I would have been glad if he was from my house that is why I gave him the treated him that way…I would have done more than if I was the owner of the business…,” he said.
He called on the youth to respect the country’s leaders ‘because they are the leaders and deserve all accolades particularly the Vice President who has been very instrumental in helping Akufo-Addo achieve a lot’.
Business owner, Abena Serwaah Ampafo praised his classmate for undertaking such a move saying she would have done same if the she had been around when the Vice President visited.
“The government has done a lot in out hometown so the Vice President deserves more than a ‘red carpet treatment’…he would have gotten more than this if he had visited Beposo, we just love him…,” she said.
