It is every Ghanaian artistes dream to at least win International awards aside Sarkodie and Stonebwoy who have won Black Entertainment Awards.
Ghanaians, some months back wished Ruffttown records signee, Wendy Shay for her dream to win either BET or Grammys.
Confident Wendy Shay asked her fans which of these 2 prestigious awards (BET and Grammys) should she win for them in 2020.
Wendy Shay tweeted and asked; “Ghana, BET or Grammys Which one shd I bring first ? 2020 is my year …God is involved”.
Ghanaians however, congratulated her for having high hopes for wining any of the International awards in 2020.
The latest Ghanaian artiste to add her voice and dreaming of winning International award is gospel singer, Empress Gifty Osei.
Empress Gifty Osei on Accra FM with Nana Romeo Welewele on the 17th January, 2020 detailed how she’s working harder to win this year’s Black Entertainment Award (BET).
She said, ” I will do my best to be on the red carpet of BET and take part. This is not about standing on the Red Carpet alone, but also be announced as winner”
The gospel singer further said, payment of ‘Payola’ to DJs before playing their songs has become one if the big challenges Musicians are facing in Ghana.
According to her, ‘Payola’ doesn’t help the industry to grow.
When asked by Nana Romeo in an interview to mention challenges artistes face in Ghana, Empress Gifty said ” our main challenge as musicians in Ghana is payment of ‘Payola’ after a release before one can have his or her songs played on air “
