A French woman bravely spoke out in court this week, revealing a horrifying ordeal of drugged rape by her husband and over 50 other men for more than a decade.

Gisèle Pélicot, 72, testified at the ongoing trial in Avignon, France. Her husband, Dominique Pélicot, 71, is among the 51 men facing rape charges.

According to reports, Gisèle believed she was attending a routine police interview with Dominique regarding a recent up skirting incident. However, the officer revealed disturbing photographs showing an unconscious Gisèle being raped by another man.

Devastated, Gisèle recounted a seemingly happy marriage shattered by her husband’s betrayal. She revealed overcoming financial and health struggles together, and even forgiving the initial up skirting incident.

The investigation exposed a dark secret. Police allege Dominique drugged Gisèle and invited men from sex-chat websites to their home, meticulously filming the assaults. Over 200 rapes are suspected to have occurred between 2011 and 2020.

Gisèle, seeking justice and accountability, waived her right to anonymity. She expressed disgust at the men involved, particularly a neighbour who participated in the abuse.

The trial continues, with Gisèle now facing the emotional turmoil of divorce on top of the trauma inflicted upon her.

According to the BBC, Gisèle Pélicot said, “Inside me, it is a scene of devastation. The façade may look solid… but behind it…

Gisèle’s ordeal has sparked outrage and calls for justice in France. Many are shocked by the extent of the abuse and the number of men involved. The trial is expected to continue for several weeks.
