Morocco’s AFCON 2025 Becomes CAF’s Most Watched Tournament with 6 Billion Digital Views

Morocco’s hosting of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has set unprecedented records both digitally and economically, according to data released by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

CAF revealed that AFCON Morocco 2025 generated 6.1 billion digital impressions, 5.2 billion video views, and attracted 8.5 million new followers, making it the most digitally engaged continental football tournament in history. The competition also recorded 285 million total engagements across social media platforms.

TikTok emerged as the tournament’s most active platform, with more than one million fan-created videos under the official AFCON hashtag. Fans shared goal celebrations, match analysis, humour, music, fashion and cultural content, helping the tournament reach audiences far beyond Africa. CAF noted that digital growth was especially strong within the African diaspora, as content spread rapidly across borders, languages and cultures.
