Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda have officially received the AFCON 2027 hosting rights following a flag handover ceremony conducted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after the 2025 tournament concluded in Morocco.
The East African partnership will stage the continent’s premier football championship, representing a groundbreaking development for the region.
The symbolic ceremony unfolded moments before Senegal secured their second continental title, edging out hosts Morocco 1-0 in extra time during Sunday’s intense final in Rabat.
Historic Joint Hosting for AFCON 2027
The flag presentation marks the beginning of intensive preparations as Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda step into their roles as co-hosts for AFCON 2027.
This collaboration is unprecedented for East Africa, making it the first occasion these three nations have partnered to deliver Africa’s most prestigious football spectacle.
The trio will now accelerate infrastructure improvements, stadium renovations, and organizational arrangements to deliver a memorable tournament, as the region prepares to welcome the continent’s elite national sides in two years.
