Bandits Abduct Pastor and Three Daughters in Kaduna, Nigeria

Fear and anxiety swept through Tudun Bussa village in Kaduna State late Sunday night after armed bandits abducted a Baptist Church pastor and his three daughters during a violent raid on the community.

The victims were identified as Pastor Daniel Bagama and his daughters, who were taken from their home at about 11:00 pm on Sunday, January 18, 2026, in Tudun Bussa, a community in Chikun Local Government Area.

According to local residents, the attackers stormed the village in large numbers and began firing sporadic gunshots, causing panic and forcing many villagers to flee into nearby bushes. Amid the confusion, the gunmen reportedly headed straight for Pastor Bagama’s residence, where they forcibly abducted him and his children before escaping to an unknown location.

The abduction was confirmed by the Conference President of the Kaduna Baptist Conference, Rev. Ishaya Adamu Jangado, in a letter addressed to church leadership and copied to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

“I write to inform you that bandits have abducted a Baptist Church Pastor, Pastor Daniel Bagama, and his three daughters at Tudun Bussa village, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State,” the letter read.

Rev. Jangado further disclosed that the incident occurred late at night when the attackers invaded the community and carried out the abduction under the cover of gunfire.

The Kaduna State Chairman of CAN, Rev. Caleb Ma’aji Bawa, also confirmed the incident, describing it as deeply troubling and reflective of the growing insecurity in parts of the state. He called on security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the release of the victims and protect vulnerable communities.

Residents of Tudun Bussa say the community has been living in fear due to repeated attacks by armed groups, with many families now avoiding night-time movement and considering relocation.

As of the time of this report, no ransom demand has been made public, and security agencies are yet to issue an official statement on rescue efforts.
