Manchester United have confirmed that Brazilian midfielder Casemiro will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season, bringing an end to a memorable four-year spell at Old Trafford.
The 33-year-old joined the Red Devils in 2022 from Real Madrid and quickly became a fan favourite for his combative style, leadership on the pitch, and knack for scoring crucial goals. In his time at the club, Casemiro played 146 games and scored 21 goals, leaving a lasting mark on Manchester United’s midfield.
During his tenure, Casemiro played a pivotal role in some of the club’s most significant moments. He scored in the 2023 Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United, helping United lift the trophy, and was also part of the squad that won the Emirates FA Cup in 2024. Beyond domestic success, he helped guide the team to the Europa League final last season, solidifying his reputation as a serial winner.
A club statement celebrated Casemiro’s contributions: “Casemiro will leave Manchester United this summer, upon the expiry of his contract. The legendary midfielder has enjoyed four seasons at the club, playing 146 games and scoring 21 goals to date. A serial winner, Casemiro was unveiled at Old Trafford in August 2022 and quickly became a fan favourite due to his combative nature and ability to score goals at crucial times.”
Reflecting on his time at United, Casemiro shared heartfelt words for the fans: “I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life. From the first day that I walked out at this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love that I now share with our supporters for this special club. It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create during the next four months. We still have a lot to fight for together; my complete focus will, as always, remain on giving my everything to help our club succeed.”
On his Instagram, he added: “Knowing when stages come to an end. Knowing when to say goodbye when you feel that you will be remembered and respected forever.”
Manchester United supporters will have the opportunity to pay tribute to Casemiro at the final home game of the season against Nottingham Forest. His influence, both on and off the pitch, will be remembered for years to come.
