Brooklyn Peltz Beckham has publicly addressed the long-running speculation surrounding his relationship with his parents, revealing that he has no plans to reconcile with football icon David Beckham and fashion designer Victoria Beckham.
The eldest son of the celebrity couple confirmed the rift in a candid statement shared on Instagram on Monday, where he accused his parents of repeatedly interfering in his marriage to American actress and billionaire heiress Nicola Peltz. Nicola is the daughter of businessman Nelson Peltz and former model Claudia Heffner Peltz.
“For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family,” Peltz Beckham wrote, adding that his parents have been “trying endlessly to ruin” his relationship with his wife since before their wedding in 2022. He adopted the double-barrelled surname Peltz Beckham following the marriage.
In the lengthy message, which was posted across six Instagram stories to his 16.3 million followers, he described the statement as a turning point in his life.
“I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” he wrote.
Speculation about tension between Brooklyn and his famous family has circulated for years, often fuelled by tabloid reports and public absences at family events. In his statement, he outlined several moments he said deepened the divide.
“My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress,” he wrote.
Nicola Peltz ultimately wore a Valentino haute couture gown featuring a square neckline and dramatic train. Her stylist later described the process as the “ultimate couture experience,” which involved multiple trips to Rome. Victoria Beckham, whose fashion label was launched in 2008, has since presented collections at major fashion weeks in London, New York and Paris.
Brooklyn also alleged that his mother reacted harshly to seating arrangements at the wedding.
He claimed she “went so far as to call me ‘evil’” after he and Nicola chose to seat his nanny and Nicola’s grandmother at their table because both women had lost their husbands.
He further accused his mother of disrupting what was meant to be a key moment during the ceremony.
“I was called to the stage where my first dance with my wife was supposed to happen,” he wrote. “Instead my mum was waiting to dance with me.”
According to Peltz Beckham, the strain continued after the wedding. He said efforts to reconnect with his parents were repeatedly shut down, even when he and Nicola travelled to London for his father’s birthday.
Despite making the trip, he claimed they were left waiting in their hotel for days and that his father “refused” to see him unless it was during a large party filled with guests and media.
“When he finally agreed to see me, it was under the condition that Nicola wasn’t invited,” he wrote. “Later, when my family travelled to LA, they refused to see me at all.”
Addressing claims that his wife controls him, Brooklyn firmly rejected the narrative.
“The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life.”
Reflecting on the emotional toll, he added, “I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared.”
