the president of African football’s governing body (CAF), is in Senegal for a two-day visit that starts this Tuesday evening and runs into Wednesday.
The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has just released the official programme, and it’s a busy one. Motsepe won’t be travelling alone — he’s coming with CAF’s acting Secretary-General, Nigerian Samson Adamu
The trip is seen as an important step to calm the waters after Senegal (the Teranga Lions) pulled out of hosting the next Africa Cup of Nations. Both sides are clearly keen to keep relations strong and move forward together. It’s a fairly standard high-level football diplomacy visit, but the inclusion of Gorée Island — a place with huge historical and emotional significance — adds a nice personal touch to the programme.Stay tuned for any updates or statements that come out of the meetings
