Chinese National Arrested in Ogun Over Alleged Rape of 23-Year-Old Woman

A 50-year-old Chinese national, Li-jian Yuan, has been taken into custody in Abeokuta, Ogun State, over allegations of sexual assault involving a 23-year-old woman identified as Wemimo Adebowale.

The arrest followed a formal complaint filed with law enforcement on January 30, 2026. Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed that detectives acted on the report and traced the suspect after preliminary inquiries were conducted.

Findings from the investigation indicate that the alleged incident occurred two days earlier, on January 28, 2026. Details surrounding the circumstances of the assault have not yet been fully made public as investigations remain ongoing.

Li-jian Yuan is currently being held by the police while further inquiries are carried out. Authorities say he will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
