Social media personality Christford Affadu Danful, widely known as Ekow Black, has been granted bail by the Adabraka District Court in connection with an alleged assault that circulated widely on social media.
Ekow Black made his second appearance before Her Worship Nana Abena Asoh Owusu Omenyo on Wednesday, where he pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault. The court admitted him to bail in the sum of GHS30,000 with two sureties.
The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Achana, told the court that the complainants in the case are officers from the National Police Headquarters.
Danful was arrested on January 15, 2026, by the Police Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team after a video emerged online showing him physically attacking his girlfriend, Rachel Oduro. The footage spread rapidly across platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat, triggering widespread public outrage.
Police investigations indicated that the couple had previously lived together and were known for recurring disagreements, some of which allegedly escalated into physical confrontations. In his caution statement to the police, Danful reportedly admitted to hitting Oduro, claiming he suspected her of infidelity.
The case has drawn strong reactions online, with many social media users calling for stricter legal consequences and renewed attention to the protection of victims of domestic violence.
