Diddy Blasts Netflix’s Surprise Doc ‘The Reckoning’, Calls It a ‘Shameful Hit Piece’ and Criticizes 50 Cent’s Role

Diddy Blasts Netflix’

Diddy Speaks Out Against Netflix’s New Docuseries

Diddy, also known as Sean Combs, is speaking out after Netflix released Sean Combs: The Reckoning, a docuseries about his life, career, and recent legal troubles. The four-part series is executive produced by 50 Cent and comes as Diddy serves a four-year sentence for prostitution-related charges.

In a statement, Diddy called the series a “shameful hit piece” and said some footage was taken without his permission. He claims private moments, pre-trial material, and conversations about legal strategy were included without authorization. Diddy is reportedly furious that Netflix allegedly took footage he has been archiving since his teenage years, insisting that it should have been used for him to tell his own story, not handed to outsiders.

The teaser shows Diddy in September 2024, as his federal case was closing in. “We’re losing,” he says, before talking about getting help from people experienced in “the dirtiest of dirty business.” Diddy’s team says Netflix misused footage he has been collecting for years to tell his own story.

Diddy also blamed the project on 50 Cent, suggesting it comes from a personal rivalry. 50 Cent, however, denied that it is personal, saying his goal was to highlight behaviors in hip-hop that should not be ignored. Director Alexandria Stapleton said the series is meant to reflect how the public idolizes celebrities and to show that everyone is human.

Netflix has stayed mostly quiet except for releasing the trailer, which features a heavy voiceover saying “You can’t continue to keep hurting people and nothing ever happens.” The docuseries promises exclusive interviews, never-before-seen footage, and a deep look at the rise and fall of the Bad Boy Records founder, now serving prison time.

Fans and critics are already talking about the series online, debating both Diddy’s legal troubles and the ethics of how the docuseries was made. Many are questioning whether it is fair to air personal footage without consent, while others are intrigued by the behind-the-scenes glimpse into one of hip-hop’s most famous figures. The series has quickly become one of the most talked-about entertainment stories in recent weeks, showing how powerful and controversial Diddy’s story remains.
