Ghanaian content creator Berthold Kobby Winkler Ackon, popularly known as Wode Maya, has opened up about the significant income he earns through his social media ventures. Known for his travel and lifestyle videos, Wode Maya revealed that some months his earnings from platforms like YouTube and Facebook can reach as high as $100,000.
Speaking on the Starr Chat show with Bola Ray on Thursday, January 29, he explained that his focus is on platforms where monetisation is strong, deliberately avoiding channels such as TikTok that do not provide substantial revenue for him.
“Some months, I make about $100,000. Other months, $50,000 is guaranteed. Social media, when used strategically, can truly transform your life,” he said.
Wode Maya also shared how even simple posts, such as photos, can generate income when managed professionally. He cited an example of a single photo with American streamer IshowSpeed, which earned him $121 on Facebook at the time of the interview. “If I post ten photos in one day, that multiplies the income. It’s all about managing it professionally,” he added.
He stressed that authenticity and creative freedom are key to his approach, deliberately avoiding brand deals that might limit his independence. For Wode Maya, monetising social media is not just about numbers but about keeping control over his content while maximising earnings.
