The Minister of the Interior, Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, has announced the renewal of the curfew imposed on Sampa Township in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region, as security concerns in the area persist.
Under the renewed directive, the curfew will run daily from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., beginning Thursday, January 22, 2026. The decision was taken following advice from the Bono Regional Security Council and has been enforced through an Executive Instrument.
In a statement, the government appealed to traditional leaders, opinion leaders, the youth, and residents of Sampa to remain calm and exercise restraint amid the ongoing tensions. Authorities urged all parties to seek redress through peaceful and lawful means, stressing that violence would only worsen the situation and threaten public safety.
Security officials also reiterated that a total ban remains in force on the possession of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons within the township. This restriction applies to all individuals without exception.
According to the Interior Ministry, anyone found violating the curfew or the weapons ban will be arrested and prosecuted immediately in accordance with the law.
The government says the measures are necessary to restore calm and ensure the safety of residents while efforts continue to resolve the underlying issues affecting the community.
