The Ghana Police Service has launched a full investigation into a viral video made by Arianna Naomi Mackey, an American citizen who claimed she was kidnapped and robbed by men she believed were police officers.
According to the official statement, preliminary findings show the video was recorded at a hotel in Accra, where she stayed with two companions before leaving Ghana on December 5, 2025.
Police say they contacted Ms. Mackey for further details, but she claimed she could not identify the officers, their names, or their vehicle. When investigators requested the contact information of the friend who was allegedly with her, she reportedly declined to provide it, saying the friend did not want to be involved.
Authorities also revealed that she deleted the viral video shortly after posting it and has since stopped responding to investigators, even blocking their attempts to reach her via WhatsApp.
Despite this, the Ghana Police say they are still working to engage her through diplomatic channels and remain committed to uncovering the truth.
