Ghana Water Takes Action to End Water Shortages in Anfoega

Residents of Anfoega and nearby areas in the Kpando District can expect improved water supply soon, Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has confirmed. The company is taking active steps to address months of persistent shortages affecting households, schools, and businesses.

The announcement followed a courtesy visit by GWL Managing Director, Adam Mutawakilu, and senior officials to the Paramount Chief of Anfoega Akukome, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV. The team aimed to assess the situation on the ground and collaborate with local leadership to resolve operational challenges in water production and distribution.

Togbe Tepre Hodo IV welcomed the initiative, stressing the difficulties residents face, including reliance on unsafe water sources that threaten public health and daily livelihoods.

Mutawakilu acknowledged the frustrations and assured the community that immediate and long-term measures would be implemented. The Kpando Water Treatment Plant, currently producing only 3,000 cubic metres per day out of a possible 6,400, will see interventions to boost output and ensure consistent supply.

He emphasised sustainable solutions and active community engagement, stating, “We want water to flow consistently and fairly to every household.”

The MD was accompanied by senior officials, including Ing. Michael Botse Baidoo, Deputy MD for Operations; Michael Klutse, Chief Manager of Corporate Planning; Ing. Amidu Musah, Chief Manager of Operations; and Stanley Martey, Chief Manager for Public Relations.
