Ghana’s online community has been rocked by outrage after a disturbing video surfaced involving popular content creator Ekow Danful, widely known as Ekow Black.
The video, which began circulating on social media on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, shows Ekow Black physically attacking a young woman identified as Rachael. In the clip, he is seen striking her while angrily yelling insults and demanding that she leave him alone. What has further unsettled viewers is that several people appear to be present at the scene, yet no one steps in to stop the assault.
The footage spread rapidly, triggering a flood of angry reactions across social platforms. Many users condemned the act and demanded swift action from the Ghana Police Service, insisting that violence can never be excused, regardless of the circumstances. Others expressed concern for the safety of the woman involved and called for justice to be served.
As the backlash grew, fellow influencer Quecy Official stepped forward, raising alarm about Ekow Black’s mental state. According to Quecy, the content creator has been emotionally overwhelmed since the video resurfaced. He shared an audio message allegedly sent by Ekow, in which the influencer is heard breaking down, admitting that his actions were wrong and describing the incident as toxic behavior he deeply regrets.
In the same recording, Ekow reportedly made statements suggesting he might not be able to cope with the situation, sparking serious concern among fans and colleagues about his wellbeing.
Quecy also claimed that the viral footage is not a recent occurrence, but an old video from a past relationship that has now resurfaced online. He alleged that Rachael is Ekow’s former girlfriend and further claimed that her current partner had threatened to pay bloggers to release the video in order to damage Ekow’s reputation.
Adding to the growing concern, screenshots shared online show a troubling message posted on Ekow Black’s Instagram Story, in which he appeared to hint at suicide following the intense public backlash. The post has prompted renewed calls for immediate mental health intervention alongside legal accountability.
As of now, Ekow Black has not issued a full public statement directly addressing the incident, and the Ghana Police Service has yet to confirm whether an investigation has been opened. Meanwhile, the situation continues to spark debate, with many Ghanaians calling for justice for the victim, accountability for the influencer, and urgent support to prevent further harm.
