March 30, 2026 — Great news for workers and Christian families across Ghana! The government has officially declared Friday, April 3 Good Friday and Monday, April 6 Easter Monday as statutory public holidays.
This means most offices, schools, and public institutions will be closed so people can properly observe the Easter season.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak. Why these dates?
- Good Friday (April 3) commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
- Easter Monday (April 6) follows Easter Sunday, which celebrates the resurrection of Christ — one of the most important events in the Christian faith.
These two days give Christians across the country time to attend church services, spend quality time with family, and reflect on the meaning of the season.
The Interior Ministry is urging everyone to respect the holidays and use the time peacefully. As usual, popular Easter destinations like Kwahu are expected to see big crowds of revellers for the annual festivities, church programmes, and family get-togethers.
