Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate and ex-governor of Anambra State, has officially confirmed his intention to run for the presidency in the 2027 general elections. The announcement came during a discussion on X Spaces on Sunday evening, where Obi addressed his supporters and shared his vision for the country’s future.
During the session, he made it clear that he will not accept a position as a running mate to any candidate, emphasizing that his political journey and experience are aimed at the highest office in the land.
“I am not travelling round the world to learn governance to be Vice president,” Obi said. “I know how to turn Nigeria around. I built my business from scratch and have more experience than any candidate, including the sitting President. Peter Obi will be on the ballot in 2027. I need your support. I need your prayers.”
He further elaborated that his track record as a businessman and governor equips him with the tools and knowledge necessary to lead Nigeria effectively. Obi’s comments reflect his determination to offer Nigerians a credible alternative in the upcoming elections and signal his readiness to take decisive action in addressing the country’s pressing challenges.
The announcement is expected to spark renewed discussions across the political spectrum, as Obi positions himself for another presidential run, rallying both supporters and political allies toward a shared goal of national transformation.
