Keke Palmer has drawn a clear boundary when it comes to cohabitation in relationships.
The actress, who shares her 2-year-old son Leodis with ex Darius Jackson, told Today that she isn’t willing to move in with a romantic partner, even if they are married. “That’s real,” she said, referencing Whoopi Goldberg’s iconic line: “I don’t want nobody in my house.”
Palmer is, however, open to alternative arrangements. She suggested living on the same property but in separate spaces. “You can be in the guest house. We can be on the same land, but I’m over there and he’s over there,” she explained, adding that at most, it would involve separate rooms.
She believes that maintaining separate living spaces keeps a relationship “fun and exciting.” “Think about how fun it would be to be like, ‘I’m going over to my man’s house.’ He’d probably make a mess at my place if he stayed over. I want to go sit on his couch,” Palmer said.
Despite her views on romantic living arrangements, her main focus remains on her son. Keke noted that parenting demands attention and responsibility, and having her own space allows her to “be the best me” for Leodis.
