A major fire outbreak has caused extensive damage at Sofoline Magazine in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region, destroying hundreds of shops and mechanic workshops.
The fire started at about 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026, and spread rapidly through the busy commercial area. Several structures were affected as the flames consumed workshops, vehicles under repair, spare parts, tools, and other valuable items.
Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service responded swiftly to the scene and were able to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings.
No injuries or deaths were reported. However, the incident has left many traders and mechanics devastated, with affected victims counting significant losses.
Authorities have begun investigations to establish the cause of the fire.
