Swiss authorities have formally charged a man with murder after his wife, a former Miss Switzerland finalist, was found brutally killed and dismembered in their home.
The victim, 38-year-old Kristina Joksimovic, was discovered dead at her residence in Binningen, near Basel, in February 2024. Authorities say her body had been mutilated in a shocking and violent manner.
Swiss media, citing strict privacy laws, identified the suspect only as Thomas. He allegedly confessed to strangling his wife before dismembering her body. Prosecutors say he then proceeded to remove her womb and process body parts using a blender while watching videos online.
Following a lengthy investigation, the Basel-Landschaft Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on Wednesday that Thomas has been officially charged with murder.
The case drew widespread attention due to its disturbing nature and the profile of the victim, who had previously competed in the Miss Switzerland beauty pageant. Swiss officials have not released further details about the motive or circumstances surrounding the crime, citing the ongoing judicial process.
