Manchester United Part Ways with Ruben Amorim After Reported Clash with Club Officials
Manchester United have reportedly dismissed manager Ruben Amorim following rising tensions with the club’s leadership.
The decision came a day after United’s 1–1 draw against Leeds United at Elland Road, during which Amorim openly expressed frustration in his post-match press conference. The Portuguese manager emphasized that he was hired as the club’s manager, not simply as a coach, signaling that his responsibilities were meant to extend beyond the touchline. Sources suggest his comments did not sit well with the board, contributing to his exit.
Amorim, who was appointed in November 2024 to succeed Erik ten Hag, leaves Old Trafford after 14 months in charge. His tenure was marked by inconsistency, with Manchester United finishing 15th in the league last season and losing the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur.
In his final media appearance, Amorim hinted that long-term improvements at the club would require structural changes beyond tactical adjustments, indicating deeper issues behind the scenes.
Following the departure, former United midfielder Darren Fletcher is expected to take over as interim manager ahead of the club’s next league fixture, while discussions for a permanent replacement are expected to begin promptly.
Despite the managerial upheaval, Manchester United currently sit sixth in the Premier League standings. The club has yet to issue an official statement confirming Amorim’s dismissal.
