Meta is testing paid subscription services across Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, offering users access to exclusive features while keeping the core apps free. The move is part of the company’s broader strategy to expand premium offerings and integrate AI tools.

According to TechCrunch, the subscriptions will introduce advanced tools and give users “more control over how they share and connect” on the platforms. Each app will feature its own set of benefits, while Meta experiments with different pricing models and feature bundles.

As part of the plan, Meta will scale its 2 billion dollar AI acquisition, Manus, integrating it into its apps. Instagram may see a shortcut for Manus AI, while other tools like Vibes, an AI-powered short-form video creator, will move to a freemium model, offering limited free access with paid options for additional use.

Leaked details suggest Instagram subscriptions could include features such as unlimited audience lists, viewing followers who don’t follow back, and anonymous Story viewing. Paid subscriptions are separate from Meta Verified, which currently offers verified badges, direct support, and impersonation protection for creators and businesses.

Meta said user feedback will guide the rollout of the new services, though analysts caution that subscription fatigue may be a challenge. The company cited Snapchat+, which has surpassed 16 million subscribers, as a model for success.
