Operatives of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in Taraba State have arrested a suspected human trafficker and rescued 10 minors during an operation in Jalingo.
The interception followed actionable intelligence received by the agency, leading to a swift response by officers of the Taraba State Command.
Confirming the development in a statement issued to journalists over the weekend, the State Commandant, Mr Bako Amos, said the operation was carried out at Kurmi Park in Jalingo at about 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026.
He explained that the arrest was executed in collaboration with the Special Adviser to the Taraba State Governor on Human Trafficking, Mrs Sarah Ishaya.
“The suspect was apprehended while making preparations to traffic the 10 children to an unknown destination,” Amos said.
According to him, both the suspect and the rescued minors are currently in NAPTIP’s custody as investigations continue.
Amos added that further inquiries are underway to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the attempted trafficking and to identify any accomplices involved in the operation.
