President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a new trade agreement between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates that will allow thousands of Nigerian products to enter the UAE market without import duties.
The agreement was signed in Abu Dhabi during the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which President Tinubu attended at the invitation of UAE leader Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Sharing the news on Tuesday, January 13, the president said the deal is expected to create more opportunities for Nigerian exporters, manufacturers, and service providers, while also encouraging increased investment from the UAE into Nigeria’s economy.
According to Tinubu, the partnership is part of Nigeria’s broader economic reform efforts and is aimed at supporting industrial growth, diversification, and long-term economic stability.
“This agreement is not just on paper,” the president said. “It opens real doors for Nigerian products, strengthens confidence for investors, and supports our goal of building a more productive economy.”
He also praised officials from both countries who worked on the negotiations, describing the agreement as the result of focused engagement and careful planning.
Tinubu expressed hope that the renewed partnership between Nigeria and the UAE would continue to bring shared benefits to both countries and their people.
