Former Migos rapper Offset was shot outside a casino in Florida on Monday evening and is now recovering in hospital.
The 34-year-old, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was hit at the valet area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood casino after 7pm.
Police say the injuries are not life-threatening and he is in stable condition, being closely monitored by doctors.Two people have already been detained in connection with the shooting.
Officers described the incident as isolated and say their investigation is ongoing.Offset rose to fame as one third of the hip-hop trio Migos alongside Quavo and the late Takeoff.
The group exploded onto the scene in 2013 with their viral hit “Versace” and followed it up in 2017 with “Bad and Boujee,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 and became one of the defining songs of their generation.
In 2017 Offset married superstar rapper and singer Cardi B.
The couple have three children together but announced their separation and filed for divorce last year.After Migos officially split in early 2022, Offset focused on his solo career. Just months later, tragedy struck the group when Takeoff was fatally shot at a private party in Houston, Texas.
News of Monday’s shooting has sent shockwaves through the music world, especially given the painful memory of Takeoff’s death.
