President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Dramani Mahama have arrived in Lusaka, Zambia, kicking off a three-day State Visit aimed at strengthening Ghana-Zambia ties and promoting regional integration.
Welcomed at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport by Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema and his wife, the visit signals a deepening of diplomatic and economic collaboration between the two West African neighbors.
The State Visit forms part of President Mahama’s broader vision for an Africa where transport infrastructure, trade networks, and the free movement of people and goods are seamlessly connected. Observers say initiatives like this could foster stronger economic cooperation and regional stability across the continent.
Later in the day, President Mahama is scheduled to meet with the Ghanaian community in Lusaka, reaffirming the government’s commitment to its citizens abroad. Bilateral talks with President Hichilema are set for Thursday, focusing on trade, investment, and collaborative regional projects.
“A key highlight of the visit will be an address to the National Assembly of Zambia, during which President Mahama will share Ghana’s vision for a more integrated and prosperous Africa.” Analysts suggest this address could serve as a blueprint for expanding partnerships between African nations and strengthening continental unity.
The visit also represents an opportunity for Ghana to showcase its leadership role in advancing Africa-wide initiatives, while building closer ties with one of the region’s fastest-growing economies.
