The music scene in Ghana is constantly changing, but it’s rare to see an artist come out with the kind of confidence Riq Garna is showing right now. His new EP, Rebirth, isn’t just a collection of songs but a personal statement.
Riq Garna describes himself as the “Son of Moses,” explaining that he’s here to pick up a spiritual and musical mantle. It’s a big claim to make, but when you hear the maturity in the production, it’s clear he isn’t just talking. He’s positioning himself as a leader for a new era of professional African sound.
What’s most striking about Rebirth is the lack of features. In an industry where everyone is constantly collaborating to boost their numbers, Riq Garna chose to go it alone across all eight tracks. He’s firm on the fact that this is his story to tell, and he didn’t want any other voices diluting that message. It gives the project a very focused, intimate feel that you don’t always get in modern Afrobeat and EP we hear this days.

The EP hits a lot of different notes, moving naturally between Amapiano, Afrobeats, and Afro-Dancehall. There’s even a solid Reggae influence which is the 8th Track on the EP “Son of Moses”. The final track, “Link-up,” was actually a last-minute addition to the Ep and wasn’t originally part of the plan, but he included it as a bonus for the fans, and it ends the project on a high, energetic note.
The “Rebirth” shows an artist who has versatile and knows his strength and sound. Riq Garna is making it clear that he’s here to stay, and he’s doing it entirely on his own terms. Dope Ep bro.
