A prominent Russian military blogger with strong ultranationalist views has issued a stark warning: Russia is heading for defeat in Ukraine and may be forced into a “shameful peace.
According to an analysis by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the blogger argues that Russia simply cannot keep up with the West’s much larger economic power. In particular, Moscow is struggling to produce enough interceptor missiles to counter the growing number of Ukrainian drone attacks, which are becoming bigger and more frequent – sometimes involving hundreds of drones at once.
The commentator claims Russia now faces a tough choice: either accept a humiliating peace deal or launch a major strategic offensive to defeat Ukraine outright. However, he says the Kremlin’s leadership is not politically prepared to carry out such an ambitious attack, and is already quietly moving toward negotiations on unfavourable terms. These comments come as Ukrainian strikes continue to hit Russian oil infrastructure hard.
Attacks on key Baltic Sea ports, including Primorsk and Ust-Luga, have significantly disrupted Russia’s oil exports in recent days, dealing another blow to Moscow’s economy. The blogger also complained last week that Russian forces are struggling on the battlefield. He pointed to “rather successful” Ukrainian counterattacks that have slowed down Russia’s offensive plans
