Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has revealed that he signed his first music contract—a five-year deal with Japanese company Westwide Records—without legal representation.
He shared the story during a Twitter Space session hosted by Jocelyn Dumas titled “The Business Behind the Talent”, where he discussed his journey in the music industry and navigating deals independently.
Despite not having a lawyer, Shatta Wale explained that he trusted his judgment and took personal responsibility in understanding the contract. The deal marks an important step for Shatta Wale as he expands his presence in the global music scene.
